You and dAnkan hurry over to the studio where the debate is to be held. While dAnkan is muttering about the increased security and how it will make it harder to accuse Frostbyte of his crimes, you stare confusedly at a new sheet of rules that someone hung on a wall.
“Why are numbers not allowed in here anymore? How can that be a security concern?”
“I heard some pro-Rudolf protests on the way here,” dAnkan says while testing the security glass encasing the studio floor for weaknesses. “They had a chant where they counted Santa’s reindeer, probably related to that. If we have to do any counting, we’ll just have to come up with another way. There are always workarounds.”
After a moment, the second debate between the remaining five candidates begins. Captain Ada Seafoss starts off strongly with a harsh jab at Santa’s monopolistic tendencies and questions his adherence to his promise of “More Toys for Everyone” since many children still go without Christmas presents. While Santa starts mumbling an answer about supply-chain issues and looks desperately for the support of his missing wife, dAnkan moves to get a closer look at the Moderator-3000-v.2.4 who is once again overseeing the debate.
“Psst, hey, look at this. You were right, this talking-head machine is made by Frostbyte’s company. Look at him over there, melting under the spotlights. I don’t think we have a lot of time before he’s just a puddle, but I have a plan,” says dAnkan and picks up their game console and a parabolic antenna. “You know how to hack, right? You hacked my social media account, so the moderator should be cakewalk!”
“Uh, I don’t know… Is this okay to do?” you ask worriedly, picturing how a criminal record may influence your potential political career.
“Definitely! It’s just fair if you think about it: Frostbyte used the Moderator-3000-v.2.4 to get an unfair advantage in the debates, and now we turn it against him!” explains dAnkan simply. “However, I doubt that the circuitry in that thing is very good. If you have to get any output or something, you can probably only get it in small pieces. Uh oh,” continues dAnkan, when the hand of a security guard touches their shoulder.
While dAnkan once again gets dragged out and complains about it being unreasonable that the name of the moderator is blacklisted, you get to hacking. Looking at the head of the moderator, you see a post-it note with the text “nc vmk.djul.se 6900”.
